Gear Upgrade Recipe
Place the gear to upgrade in the center of the crafting table and surround it with 8 units of the same Tech currency. The system randomly selects one existing normal enchantment whose vanilla maximum level is above 1 and that has not reached its Tech upgrade cap, then raises it by 1 level. Upgrading does not add new normal enchantments from nothing.
Success Formula
Success chance = 75% − 5% × total gear enchantment level + material bonus, clamped to 0%–95%.
“Total gear enchantment level” is the sum of all normal enchantment levels plus the number of special enchantments. For example, normal enchantments at levels 5 and 3 plus 1 special enchantment give a total of 9.
The material bonus is based on the full ring of materials:
- 8 Tech Shards: +0%.
- 8 Tech Ingots: +50%.
- 8 Tech Blocks: +100%.
Example: with a total enchantment level of 9 and Tech Ingots, the chance is 75% − 45% + 50% = 80%.
Success, Failure, and Caps
On success, the randomly selected normal enchantment gains 1 level and can exceed its usual vanilla cap. Failure consumes the surrounding materials but leaves the gear in the center unchanged. If the gear has no eligible enchantments, crafting is cancelled and no materials are consumed.
Mending, Infinity, and other enchantments with a vanilla maximum level of 1 are not upgrade targets. Fortune can be raised to at most level X with Tech upgrades. Once it reaches Fortune X, it leaves the random candidate pool, while other enchantments on the gear, such as Efficiency and Unbreaking, can still be upgraded. Older gear already above Fortune X is not downgraded, but Tech upgrades cannot raise Fortune any further.
Enchantment Transfer
Use shapeless crafting with 7 Tech Ingots, 1 enchanted book, and 1 single piece of gear to transfer the book's enchantment to compatible gear. A normal enchanted book reads its first enchantment and writes it at level 1; a special enchanted book writes its corresponding special enchantment. Do not use stacked gear for a transfer.
Sources of Special Enchanted Books
A wandering trader has a 45% chance to generate with one additional random special enchanted-book trade. Each trader offers only one randomly selected type and can complete that trade at most once. Ordinary special enchanted books cost 32 Tech Shards; Undying, Area Mining, Life Leech, Defensive Stance, Haste, and Double Jump cost 64 Tech Shards.
