Fengzhiyu is a public-benefit Minecraft server built around vanilla survival, building, and long-term play.
The server has no fixed progression path and does not require players to center their game around any single system. Building, survival, technical Minecraft, and trading can all be enjoyed in the ways Minecraft originally allows. Beyond that, the server offers economy, technology, adventure, and other expanded content. These are choices layered on top of the original game, not replacements for Minecraft itself.
The world save has been preserved continuously and reliably since the server was founded.
Versions are updated, gameplay changes, and new systems continue to be added, but these changes do not require the existing world to start over. For Fengzhiyu, a world that accumulates history and continues to change over time is itself part of the Minecraft experience.
Fengzhiyu is also a server project under long-term development.
A Minecraft server consists of more than the game server alone.
An economy affects currency, resources, and exchange between players. Gameplay systems must account for rewards, costs, balance, and player behavior. Operating the server involves its software environment, performance, and stability. External access requires network and service configuration. Preserving a world over the long term requires storage, backups, and reliable hardware. The connections among the website, databases, and different services form the parts outside the game that remain linked to the server.
These problems belong to different fields and need to be understood according to the principles of each one.
Designing an economy requires understanding how economies work. Designing gameplay requires attention to balance and incentives. Deploying a server requires dealing with software, hardware, networks, and data. A problem does not always need a complicated answer, but first one must understand exactly what problem is being solved.
For this reason, Fengzhiyu has maintained a highly unified approach to design, management, and maintenance since its beginning.
Gameplay, economy, rules, plugins, the website, and the runtime environment are not separate projects developing independently. They are interconnected parts of the same system. This allows the long-term direction of the server to remain continuous instead of repeatedly shifting among different goals for management, development, and operation.
In the early days of the server, most functions still depended on existing plugins and tools.
Many ideas could only be realized by finding suitable software, changing configuration, and combining different plugins. What could ultimately be achieved was often limited by the capabilities of the available tools.
As development capabilities and tools have improved, more and more functions can be implemented directly according to actual needs. Systems that were once separate have also begun to connect, and the game, economy, website, databases, and server services are gradually becoming parts of one design.
Ready-made software is still used extensively.
But it no longer determines what Fengzhiyu can do, nor what a system must ultimately become.
After continuous operation and development, Fengzhiyu has now largely become the server that was originally envisioned.
The world continues to run.
The server continues to be developed.
